Stranger Than Fiction: A Progressive Surf Movie by Taylor Steele

Stranger Than FictionFor those of you who read my post on Taylor Steele’s film “Sipping Jetstreams”, you will find that this surf movie by Taylor Steele is nearly the exact opposite. “Stranger Than Fiction” is nothing like “Sipping Jetstreams”, aside from the fact that the surfing is incredible.

This surf movie is all about showing what the most progressive surfers in the world are capable of. In “Stranger Than Fiction” you’ll see some of the most insane airs and barrels that have ever been caught on film.

Green Screen

The whole theme to the film is kind of a big joke. Taylor Steele tries to show us all that pro surfers are really not that good, and that they have all kinds of secrets to how they get such good footage.

For example, Dane Reynolds is really a robot, most surfers use green screens to fake how high they actually air, and waves can be edited to look three times as big. It’s pretty amusing to see some of the things they come up with in this surf movie.

Stranger Than Fiction - JordyAside from the joking around, the surfing really is amazing and it might actually have you start thinking that it should be fake.

The lineup of surfers includes Andy Irons, Julian Wilson, Taj Burrow, Bruce Irons, Kalani Robb, Mick Fanning, Dusty Payne, Ry Craike, Benji Weatherley, Clay Marzo, Shane Dorian, Yadin Nicol, Rob Machado, Jordy Smith, Joel Parkinson, CJ Hobgood, Dane Reynolds, and surprisingly a lot more.

“Stranger Than Fiction” is over an hour long, and packed full of explosive surfing maneuvers. Taylor Steele has directed some mind-blowing surf films in the past, and this one is no different, taking things to the next level.
